Unique to Pickering Rouge Canoe Club is the opportunity to participate in Outrigger style canoeing. Originally founded in and around the islands of Hawaii this discipline allows for some great fun and the ability to paddle the high seas of Lake Ontario!!

The Outrigger Canoe itself is designed to handle more hostile water conditions, the attached “ama” is meant to add another base of support to allow the boat to be more stable. Unlike the other disciplines our club offers, Outriggers are usually used to race long distances, so rather than a 500m an Outrigger may race 10km.

The Pickering Rouge Canoe Club offers programs using our two OC-6’s, these are large boats that require 6 people to paddle them (5 paddlers, 1 steers-person). While paddling this large boat paddlers simultaneously switch sides every 15-20 strokes so they can be more effective over long distances.

This discipline still allows for a team atmosphere but at a slightly smaller scale. Outrigger has proven to also be great cross-training for competitive dragon boaters looking to spice up their training.

Although Outrigger is fairly new to the Pickering Rouge Canoe Club, we offer some great programs for beginners as well as rental times for those who have an existing team, or may be looking to get one started.

Sessions / Cost

1 X week $200

Participants are required to provide 10 hours of volunteer time or a volunteer cheque of $250 in lieu of hours.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY

Only persons 18 years of age or older can register participants for this program. If you are not at least 18 years old and you wish to register, you will need to have a parent or guardian fill in the following forms.

After selecting "Register" you will be required to CREATE AN ACCOUNT with Sportical.

On the first day of your program please bring your email confirmation and waivers (that will be emailed to you) and volunteer cheque.

If paying by Interac Debit please select payment method: "Interac" and complete the payment by using your bank's online tool. Interac E-Transfers are to be sent from your online banking website to [email protected]. In the comments section of the E-Transfer please include the registrants name and the name of the program you have registered them in. E-Transfer Password: Your bank will require you to create a password for this transaction. Please send the password in a separate email to [email protected] with the above reference information.
Those payments made via interac e-transfer your registration is not guaranteed until payment has been received in full.

Please note:
For registrations that are to paid by Credit card - your spot is instantly guaranteed, and the initial automated confirmation slip is all that you require. Selecting PAYPAL does not require you to have a paypal account and will allow you to pay by credit card inside the paypal system.

REFUND POLICY:
All Camp/memberships are non-transferable.
Any refund will take approximately 2-4 weeks to complete.
75% refund if notified at least 1 month before start date
50% refund with 2 weeks’ notice of start date
25% refund with 1 week of start date

If your program requires a volunteer cheque, the program is not considered fully paid until a volunteer cheque has been received. Volunteer cheques should be submitted on the first day of your program or before. All refunds may be subject to a $35.00 administration fee. A full refund of your membership will be granted if an e-mailed request to [email protected] is received withing 24hrs of registering or more than 1 month remains before the start of the program. Memberships are active from the start of the program. They become non-active at the end of the season or upon our receipt of your application for refund. Refunds after the start of the program will only be considered for medical reasons with proper medical documentation. Non-use will not be considered a reason for a refund of membership. Refunds are not given for inclement weather.

Pickering Rouge Canoe Club reserves the right to change schedules, coaches or practices as needed without compensation or notice.
