The Outrigger Program runs Tuesday and Thursday evenings and is designed for adults aged 18+ of all skill levels who are looking for a unique paddling experience. Participants typically sign up for either Tuesdays or Thursdays but a twice weekly option is available.

Outrigger style canoeing originated in Hawaii. The “ama” that is attached to the canoe adds support and stability, allowing the boat to handle rougher water conditions. We have two OC-6’s – these large boats require 6 people (5 paddlers, 1 steers-person). Paddlers simultaneously switch sides every 15-20 strokes so they can be more effective over long distances. PRCC’s program offers fun paddling in Frenchman’s Bay or on the high seas of Lake Ontario!

This discipline allows for a team atmosphere but at a smaller scale than dragon boat or war canoe. Outrigger provides great cross-training for competitive dragon boaters looking to spice up their training.

SESSIONS AND COST

Program runs from May 28 to September 26, 2018, Tues or Thurs 6:30-8:00 p.m.
One session per week is $200 including all taxes and fees.
Two sessions per week is $350 including all taxes and fees.

Package 1: Tuesdays 6:30-8:00 pm ($200)
Package 2: Thursday 6:30-8:00 pm ($200)
Package 3: Tues & Thurs 6:30-8:00 pm ($350)

Cost includes equipment but excludes regatta fees.

Note that there may be program disruption Aug 27 & 29 due to the Canadian Sprint Canoe Kayak Championships.

Participants become members of Pickering Rouge Canoe Club (PRCC) for the year of registration.

VOLUNTEER CHEQUE

A volunteer cheque of $100 is required annually for each registration. The program is not considered fully paid until the volunteer cheque has been received. Volunteer cheques should be submitted on the first day of your program or beforehand. If the participant contributes at least 10 hours of volunteer time to PRCC during 2018, the cheque will be voided. Check the PRCC website for volunteer opportunities.

REGISTRATION

Only persons 18 years of age or older can register for this program. After selecting "Register" you will be required to CREATE AN ACCOUNT with Sportical if you do not already have one.

Payment is by credit card or PayPal. You do not need a PayPal account to pay by credit card inside the PayPal system.

On the first day of your program, please bring: 1) your email confirmation, 2) waiver that will be emailed to you, 3) volunteer cheque.

REFUND POLICY

All registrations are non-transferable. All refunds may be subject to a $35.00 administration fee. Any refund will take approximately 2-4 weeks to complete.
75% refund if notified at least 1 month before start date.
50% refund with 2 weeks’ notice of start date.
25% refund with 1 week of start date.

A full refund of your membership will be granted if an e-mailed request to [email protected] is received within 24 hours of registering or more than one month remains before the start of the program. Memberships are active from the start of the program. They become non-active at the end of the season or upon our receipt of your application for refund. Refunds after the start of the program will only be considered for medical reasons with proper medical documentation. Non-use is not a reason for refund of membership. Refunds are not given for inclement weather.

PRCC reserves the right to change schedules, coaches or practices as needed without compensation or notice.
