Dragon Boat Recreation Team 2018

The Dragon Boat Program runs Monday and Wednesday evenings and is designed to build a recreational dragon boat team of enthusiastic adults. No experience is necessary. Registration includes participation in two dragon boat festivals. Dragon boat rentals are also available for existing teams.

Dragon boat is a popular paddling sport that has been around for centuries. A dragon boat holds 20 paddlers along with one steers-person and a drummer. The goal is for all paddlers to paddle in sequence to propel the boat forward as fast as possible over a short distance (usually 500m). Races typically take 2 to 3 minutes, requiring a combination of technique, endurance and concentration.

SESSIONS AND COST

Program runs from April 30 to August 11, 2018, Mon & Wed 6:30-8:00 p.m.
Cost is $300 including all taxes and fees.

Cost includes equipment and team registration in the Pickering Dragon Boat Festival June 2-3 and the Guelph Dragon Boat Festival August 11. Participants are responsible for their own travel arrangements.

Participants become members of Pickering Rouge Canoe Club (PRCC) for the year of registration.

PRCC has the option to cancel the program if there is insufficient registration. Full reimbursement will be provided if the program is cancelled before April 30, 2018.

VOLUNTEER CHEQUE

A volunteer cheque is not required for this program; however, assistance with the PRCC BBQ and beer tent at the Pickering Dragon Boat Festival June 2-3 is required. Sign up will be available online on PRCC’s website.

REGISTRATION

Payment is by credit card or PayPal. You do not need a PayPal account to pay by credit card inside the PayPal system.

On the first day of your program, please bring your email confirmation and waiver that will be emailed to you.

REFUND POLICY

All registrations are non-transferable. All refunds may be subject to a $35.00 administration fee. Any refund will take approximately 2-4 weeks to complete.
75% refund if notified at least 1 month before start date.
50% refund with 2 weeks’ notice of start date.
25% refund with 1 week of start date.

A full refund of your membership will be granted if an e-mailed request to [email protected] is received within 24 hours of registering or more than one month remains before the start of the program. Memberships are active from the start of the program. They become non-active at the end of the season or upon our receipt of your application for refund. Refunds after the start of the program will only be considered for medical reasons with proper medical documentation. Non-use is not a reason for refund of membership. Refunds are not given for inclement weather.

PRCC reserves the right to change schedules, coaches or practices as needed without compensation or notice.
