2019 Masters Program

The Master’s Canoe Kayak Program runs Tuesday & Thursday evenings for adults aged 18+ and is designed for both beginner and experienced paddlers of all skill levels.

Participants have the opportunity to paddle canoes or kayaks with the K1 (one-person kayak) being the most popular. Paddling is a low impact activity that provides an above average aerobic workout while building flexibility and core strength.

There is a very exciting racing component to the Master’s program for those who are interested and you need minimal experience. It’s a great way to get motivated and meet friends in the paddling community. Mark down July 13 in your schedule for PRCC’s Rouge Regatta. There are also special Master’s events at different canoe clubs each month on May 26, June 23, July 14, August 11 and September 15. See our website calendar or check under “Regattas” for dates and information. To compete at Western Ontario Division, Provincials and Nationals, Master's paddlers must be at least 25. There will be additional cost to participate in these regattas.

SESSIONS AND COST

Program runs from May 21 to September 26, 2018, Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:30-8:00 p.m. (2 times per week). Note that there may be program disruption August 27 & August 29 due to the Canadian Sprint Canoe Kayak Championships.

Cost is $275 including all taxes and fees.
Cost includes equipment but excludes regatta fees.

Participants become members of Pickering Rouge Canoe Club (PRCC) for the year of registration.

VOLUNTEER HOURS

On the first day of your program, please bring your email confirmation and a volunteer cheque for $100, postdated to October 27, 2019. The cheque is cashed only if you do not complete 10 or more hours of volunteer work. PRCC is run by volunteers. By pitching in, you will help us continue to offer high quality programs at a reasonable price, and you’ll have fun by engaging with other members at the same time. Family and friends can also volunteer and their time will count towards your volunteer hours. For volunteer opportunities, see our website under “Jobs and Volunteering”.

REGISTRATION

Only persons 18 years of age or older can register participants for this program. If you are not at least 18 years old, a parent or guardian will need to complete the registration.

After selecting "Register" you will be required to CREATE AN ACCOUNT with Sportical if you do not already have one.

Payment is by credit card or PayPal. You do not need a PayPal account to pay by credit card inside the PayPal system.

On the first day of your program, please bring your email confirmation and volunteer cheque.

REFUND POLICY

All registrations are non-transferable. All refunds may be subject to a $35.00 administration fee. Any refund will take approximately 2-4 weeks to complete.
75% refund if notified at least 1 month before start date.
50% refund with 2 weeks’ notice of start date.
25% refund with 1 week of start date.

A full refund of your membership will be granted if an e-mailed request to [email protected] is received within 24 hours of registering or more than one month remains before the start of the program. Memberships are active from the start of the program. They become non-active at the end of the season or upon our receipt of your application for refund. Refunds after the start of the program will only be considered for medical reasons with proper medical documentation. Non-use is not a reason for refund of membership. Refunds are not given for inclement weather.

PRCC reserves the right to change schedules, coaches or practices as needed without compensation or notice.
