2019 Sprint Racing Ages 9-14 (Bantam), Spring & Summer

The Sprint Racing Ages 9-14 (Bantam) Spring & Summer Program consists of two parts:
May 6 - June 27 - Paddling 3 afternoons per week on Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays 4:15-5:45 pm (start date dependent on the weather)
July 2 - August 23 - 8 weeks of full-day sprint canoe and kayak coaching

No experience is necessary and all equipment is provided. Children younger than 9 may be included with Head Coach approval.

Children enjoy weekly BBQs, games, beach time and fun regattas as well as the option to race in more competitive regattas. Our well-trained coaches teach fundamental paddling skills and provide a comprehensive physical activity program that involves paddling, balance drills, and games and activities in a positive fun environment.

The program is based on Canoe Kayak Canada’s (CKC) model for Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) and provides:

- A fun and safe environment for all participating athletes
- Instruction in the fundamentals of sprint canoe and kayak for both beginners and experienced paddlers
- Opportunities for athletes to train and compete in a variety of team (crew) and individual boats (singles)
- Introduction to aerobic and speed training on and off the water
- Opportunities for all participants to compete in regattas in Western Ontario Division

The day-to-day activities include:

- Morning meet and greet
- Morning warm up with dry land activities such as jogging and dynamic stretching
- Group games such as volleyball, pickle, frisbee, jack-pot and relay races
- Multiple on-water sessions with time in team boats, singles and big boats (war canoe)
- Beach activities, swimming, time in fun boats (non-racing boats)
- Designated lunch time supervised by coaches
- Theme weeks with costume day on Wednesdays
- Weekly BBQ!

The spring session runs Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays 4:15-5:45 pm from May 6 - June 27 (start date dependent on weather)
The summer session runs Mondays to Fridays, 9:00-4:00 from May 21 to August 23, 2019 (excluding Civic Holiday Aug 5)

Cost is $850.00 including all taxes and fees.
A sibling can be registered for $745.00. The sibling discount is awarded at the same time for each child in the family after the first child is registered in the higher price program.

Fees include equipment and regattas.
Participants, along with parents or guardians, become members of Pickering Rouge Canoe Club (PRCC) for the year of registration.

VOLUNTEER HOURS

On the first day of the program, please bring your email confirmation and a volunteer cheque for $100 per child, postdated to October 27, 2019. The cheque is cashed only if you do not complete 10 or more hours of volunteer work (per child). PRCC is run by volunteers. By pitching in, you will help us continue to offer high quality programs at a reasonable price, and you’ll have fun by engaging with other members at the same time. REGISTRATION

Only parents, legal guardians or persons 18 years of age or older can register participants for this program. If you are not at least 18 years old, a parent or guardian will need to complete the registration.
After selecting "Register" you will be required to CREATE AN ACCOUNT with Sportical if you do not already have one.

Payment is by credit card or PayPal. You do not need a PayPal account to pay by credit card inside the PayPal system.

On the first day of your program, please bring your email confirmation and volunteer cheque.

REFUND POLICY:

All registrations are non-transferable. All refunds may be subject to a $35.00 administration fee. Any refund will take approximately 2-4 weeks to complete.
75% refund if notified at least 1 month before start date.
50% refund with 2 weeks’ notice of start date.
25% refund with 1 week of start date.

A full refund of your membership will be granted if an e-mailed request to [email protected] is received within 24 hours of registering or more than one month remains before the start of the program. Memberships are active from the start of the program. They become non-active at the end of the season or upon our receipt of your application for refund. Refunds after the start of the program will only be considered for medical reasons with proper medical documentation. Non-use is not a reason for refund of membership. Refunds are not given for inclement weather.

PRCC reserves the right to change schedules, coaches or practices as needed without compensation or notice.
