The High Performance (HP) sprint canoe kayak program is designed for experienced paddlers aged 15 and older with aspirations of training competitively and making the national team.

Spring and summer training consists of primarily of on water training with some dry land training, depending on the weather. Dry land training usually takes place at The Shed Fitness and Conditioning Gym, 1420 Bayly St. #11.

10 workouts per week: Mon-Fri mornings 6:00-7:30 (7:00-8:30 July & Aug), afternoons Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri 4:15-6:00 & Sat 9:00-10:30 a.m. with regattas on some weekends (see calendar).

The program is based on Canoe Kayak Canada’s (CKC) model for Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD). The program’s main goals are to provide:
- A fun and safe environment for all participating athletes
- Opportunities for athletes to train and compete in a variety of team (crew) and individual boats (singles)
- Aerobic and speed training on and off the water
- Opportunities for participants to compete divisionally, provincially and nationally
