If the program or session you are interested in is full, you can add your name to a waiting list here: https://prcc.sportical.com/events/5076  We will contact you if a spot becomes available for you.

PRCC will be operating all our programs in July & August in full compliance with Ministry of Health requirements. See our COVID-19 Response page for more information. We have made many changes to our programs and procedures to keep participants and staff safe.

The Pickering Rouge Canoe Club is pleased to offer a safe, physically-distant paddling program for adults who would like to navigate various self-propelled watercraft with other individuals (who will always remain six feet away). If you spent the last few years in a dragon boat, this is the perfect time to learn how to paddle under your own power!

What is the program?
The program will introduce participants to three different solo paddling experiences:
1) SUP (Stand Up Paddleboarding)
2) Pleasure Canoeing
3) Beginner level kayaks
Participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of each watercraft. Once a level of proficiency has been established, individuals will be allowed to traverse up river to get a unique perspective of the Rouge National Urban Park.

When is the Program?
Solo Paddling Together will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 6:45 until 8:00 p.m.
The program will begin on Wednesday, June 17 and will run through until August 19. The Tuesday program starts on July 7th.
The program runs for a total of 10 weeks (8 weeks for Tuesdays).

Where will the program take place?
Solo Paddling Together will take place at our river site at the bottom of Lawrence Avenue.

How many people can join the program? How will we ensure physical distancing is maintained?
The program will begin with a cap of 15 or so participants. 5 participants will arrive at 6:45. 5 participants will arrive at 7:00, and, if numbers demand it, 5 participants will arrive at 7:15.
The groups will be met by a coach who will get them quickly on the water, allowing the next group to get out their equipment. Each coach will travel with their own group of 4 so that we keep the proper participant ratio as set out by the provincial government. Each session will last for approximately one hour.

What do participants need to bring?
Participants must bring the following: life jacket, sunhat, water bottle, lysol wipes.
Paddles, boats and other equipment will be provided.

What is the cost of the program?
The cost of the program is $80.00 for Tuesdays and $100.00 for the other nights.
Volunteer obligation: The club is in the process of having to move its operations from Beachpoint Promenade. At some point we will need help moving boats, equipment etc. We ask that you donate two or three hours of your time to help us out.

All participants must read and sign off that they have read the PRCC concussion code of conduct. See our page on Rowan's Law for full information.

Participants become members of Pickering Rouge Canoe Club (PRCC) for the year of registration.
