PLEASE NOTE THAT PARTICIPANTS ARE REQUIRED TO BRING THEIR OWN LIFEJACKETS. If we are required to cancel the session in which you are registered, full refunds (prorated if mid-session) will be issued.

Intro To Sprint (ages 9-14): If your child is interested in Sprint Canoe or Kayaking and has never been a member of the club in the past, but you are unsure if they will want to spend the entire summer doing it. This is the program for you!

The camp consists of 2 weeks of full-day sprint canoe and kayak coaching. No experience is necessary and all equipment is provided. Children younger than 9 may be included with Head Coach approval. Children enjoy learning to paddle, games, beach time, fun regattas, as well as the option to race in more competitive regattas. Our well-trained coaches teach fundamental paddling skills and provide a comprehensive physical activity program that involves paddling, balance drills, and games and activities in a positive fun environment. The program is based on Canoe Kayak Canada’s (CKC) model for Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) and provides: - A fun and safe environment for all participating athletes - Instruction in the fundamentals of sprint canoe and kayak for both beginners and experienced paddlers - Opportunities for athletes to train and compete in a variety of team (crew) and individual boats (singles) - Introduction to aerobic and speed training on and off the water. The day-to-day activities include: - Morning meet and greet - Morning warm up with dry land activities such as jogging and dynamic stretching - Group games such as volleyball, pickle, frisbee, jack-pot and relay races - Multiple on-water sessions with time in team boats, singles and big boats (war canoe) - Beach activities, swimming, time in fun boats (non-racing boats) - Designated lunch time supervised by coaches - Theme weeks with costume day on Wednesdays. Each 2 week session runs Mondays to Fridays, 9:00-4:00 July 4 to August 25, 2023 (excluding Civic Holiday August 7). Fees include equipment. Session 1: July 4 - July 14 ($450) Session 2: July 17 - July 28 ($500) Session 3: July 31 - August 11 ($450) Session 4: August 14 - August 25 ($500)

Campers will be provided a PRCC Camp shirt only on their first week of camp.

REGISTRATION

Only parents, legal guardians or persons 18 years of age or older can register participants for this program. If you are not at least 18 years old, a parent or guardian will need to complete the registration. After selecting "Register" you will be required to CREATE AN ACCOUNT with Sportical if you do not already have one.

Payment is by credit card.

All parents/guardians must read and sign off that they have read the PRCC concussion code of conduct. See our page on Rowan's Law for full information. On the first day of your program, please bring your email confirmation and waiver that will be emailed to you.

REFUND POLICY

There is no refund available once the camp has started. If cancellation is done at least 2 weeks before the start of the camp, then a refund will be issued less a $50 administration fee. If cancellation is done within 2 weeks prior to the start of the camp, a refund will be issued less 50% of the camp fee. Cancellation the Friday before the camp starts will not qualify for a refund.
