2023 Special O

PLEASE NOTE THAT PARTICIPANTS ARE REQUIRED TO BRING THEIR OWN LIFEJACKETS. If we are required to cancel the session in which you are registered, full refunds (prorated if mid-session) will be issued.

Special O is a program for people with intellectual and physical disabilities. Participants paddle various water crafts such as recreational canoes and kayaks, and sprint race kayaks. All-Abilities provides a safe and inclusive environment where each participant can build skills and confidence on the water at their own pace. The focus is on having fun and being safe! The program includes a safety orientation and instruction by experienced coaches. Each paddler spends time on the water with a paddling partner for 3:1 support. This program is ideal for ages 10 and older, but younger children may be accepted at the discretion of the All-Abilities Coach. Participants may be divided into two groups – recreation or development. The development group has greater focus on skill improvement. Both recreational and development participants can race at regattas, competing against other All-Abilities athletes if they wish. Please refer to the calendar on our website for regatta dates.

SESSIONS AND COST

Program runs from May 29th to August 28th, 2023 on Monday evenings from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. The cost is $250.00 including all taxes and fees.  Fees include equipment and all regattas. Participants of All-Abilities, along with parents or guardians, become members of Pickering Rouge Canoe Club (PRCC) for the year of registration.

Payment is by credit card. 

VOLUNTEER HOURS

On the first day of the program, please bring volunteer cheque. The volunteer policy can also be found on our website and attached to the documents in the registration package, the policy outlines the amount of the cheque and volunteer requirements. 

Only parents, legal guardians or persons 18 years of age or older can register participants for this program. If you are not at least 18 years old, a parent or guardian will need to complete the registration. After selecting "Register" you will be required to CREATE AN ACCOUNT with Sportical if you don’t already have one. Payment is by credit card or PayPal. You do not need a PayPal account to pay by credit card inside the PayPal system. On the first day of your program, please bring your email confirmation and the waiver that will be emailed to you.

REFUND POLICY

For programs that occur weekly, cancellation can occur within the first 2 weeks with a full refund minus the $50 administration fee. Cancellation requests that are done following the first 2 weeks will not be refunded.
