PLEASE NOTE THAT PARTICIPANTS ARE REQUIRED TO BRING THEIR OWN LIFEJACKETS AS PART OF OUR COVID-19 RESPONSE PROCEDURES. If we are required to cancel the session in which you are registered, full refunds (prorated if mid-session) will be issued.

The Bantam Summer - Sprint Racing Ages 9-14 Program consists of 8 weeks of full-day sprint canoe and kayak coaching from July 4 - August 25. No experience is necessary and all equipment is provided. Children younger than 9 may be included with Head Coach approval. Children enjoy learning to paddle, games, beach time, fun regattas, as well as the option to race in more competitive regattas. Our well-trained coaches teach fundamental paddling skills and provide a comprehensive physical activity program that involves paddling, balance drills, and games and activities in a positive fun environment. The program is based on Canoe Kayak Canada’s (CKC) model for Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) and provides: - A fun and safe environment for all participating athletes - Instruction in the fundamentals of sprint canoe and kayak for both beginners and experienced paddlers - Opportunities for athletes to train and compete in a variety of team (crew) and individual boats (singles) - Introduction to aerobic and speed training on and off the water - Opportunities for all participants to compete in regattas in Western Ontario Division The day-to-day activities include: - Morning meet and greet - Morning warm up with dry land activities such as jogging and dynamic stretching - Group games such as volleyball, pickle, frisbee, jack-pot and relay races - Multiple on-water sessions with time in team boats, singles and big boats (war canoe) - Beach activities, swimming, time in fun boats (non-racing boats) - Designated lunch time supervised by coaches - Theme weeks with costume day on Wednesdays. The session runs Mondays to Fridays, 9:00-4:00 from July 4 to August 25, 2023 (excluding Civic Holiday August 7). Fees include equipment and regattas. Participants, along with parents or guardians, become members of Pickering Rouge Canoe Club (PRCC) for the year of registration. All athletes and parents/guardians must read and sign off that they have read the PRCC concussion code of conduct. See our page on Rowan's Law for full information.

Summer 8 Week Session: July 4 - August 25 ($1200)

VOLUNTEER HOURS 

On the first day of the program, please bring volunteer cheque. The volunteer policy can also be found on our website and attached to the documents in the registration package, the policy outlines the amount of the cheque and volunteer requirements. 

REGISTRATION

Only parents, legal guardians or persons 18 years of age or older can register participants for this program. If you are not at least 18 years old, a parent or guardian will need to complete the registration. After selecting "Register" you will be required to CREATE AN ACCOUNT with Sportical if you do not already have one.

Payment is by credit card.

On the first day of your program, please bring your email confirmation and volunteer cheque.

REFUND POLICY:

There is no refund available once the camp has started. If cancellation is done at least 2 weeks before the start of the camp, then a refund will be issued less a $50 administration fee. If cancellation is done within 2 weeks prior to the start of the camp, a refund will be issued less 50% of the camp fee. Cancellation the Friday before the camp starts will not qualify for a refund.
